Project Description
During our second semester, the focus of our education was on innovation. We learned various innovation methodologies, ideation processes, and techniques for facilitating innovation workshops.
For the semester project, we were tasked with following an ideation process to identify a problem and then develop a product to address that problem.
Our team designed a device to detect noise levels in classrooms and provide visual feedback to encourage children to lower their noise levels.
Project Methodology
1. Ideation Phase 1: Problem Identification
- Identify a specific problem to solve.
2. Ideation Phase 2: Divergence
- Explore various potential solutions to the identified problem using ideation techniques.
3. Ideation Phase 3: Convergence
- Narrow down the potential solutions to select the most viable one.
4. Product Development:
- Develop high-level product specifications using 3D modeling software (e.g., NX Siemens).
- Create a prototype using materials and engineering processes (e.g., 3D printing).
- Develop a user manual for the prototype.
5. Business Development:
- Define the product's target persona.
- Develop user surveys to gather feedback on the product.
Project Contributions
1. Infographic Design:
- Created infographics to illustrate our product features, user specifications, user journeys, and personas.
2. Market Research:
- Conducted market research to identify potential end users, map the customer user journey and map the user personas.
3. Report Editing:
- Served as the lead editor for the project report.
Key Competencies Developed
1. User Market Research:
- Conducted comprehensive market research to identify the needs and preferences of our target users, ensuring the product was tailored to meet real-world demands.
2. Survey Creation:
- Developed and distributed surveys to gather user feedback, enabling data-driven decision-making throughout the product development process.
3. Market Analysis:
- Analyzed market trends and competitor products to position our solution effectively and identify unique selling points.
4. Documentation:
- Led the documentation process, ensuring all project materials were clearly written, well-organized, and professionally presented.
5. Created visually appealing infographics to communicate complex information in an accessible and engaging manner, enhancing stakeholder understanding and engagement.
